Today Good had a very interesting article on a new Smart Phone App that actually helps you buy less. A New App Helps You Buy Less—and Give Generously – Business – GOOD. What is interesting about this App is that it encourages thriftiness while encouraging philanthropy. This is how it works, the App called Instead encourages you to make less expensive consumer choices and facilitates charitable giving via your smart phone. Once you sign up for the service you can choose from 100 charities to give to and give in small increments via the App. So instead of going to Starbucks and spending $5 on a late you can get a regular coffee at the local coffee shop and give the difference to a charity in need. It is a great concept and I hope it catches on. What are your thought on this App and charitable giving as an impulse buy?
