It has taken a few years but finally the front of the house is getting to look really green. The front yard is all green to start with the driveway paved with turf block and the rest planted with 72 large ornamental grasses with wild flowers interspersed throughout. Now the trellis on the front porch is filling in with ivy, grape vines, climbing hydrangea and climbing clematis. The idea behind the green facade is to keep the afternoon hot sun off the house and with that reducing the cooling load. With six feet of air space behind the climbing greens there is plenty or air movement and the view out the windows is just marvelous as you look through the green leafs and grasses.
The house is finally greening
